Carmen Chiang


JCI Ireland National Convention

  • Star Wars Training

Carmen Chiang is a trainer and member from JCI Hong Kong. She is also a Star Wars since 1999. Carmen is now the Commendar Officer of Rebel Legion Hong Kong, worldwide charity Star Wars costume group.

Carmen hopes to introduce Star Wars to you and how it can help you on our JCI journey. She is flying in to breaking the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs to Galway City. One not to be missed!

Based in Galway, Kieran is a published author who has become one of the most influential new media strategists in the West of Ireland and beyond, helping to create several viral media successes as well as longer term digital campaigns for small, medium and large businesses.

Camille Donegan


JCI Ireland National Convention

  • An Experiential Introduction to the New World of VR and AR storytelling

Camille Donegan, VR Consultant, Producer and General Manager at Virtual Reality Ireland, will run a workshop on "An Experiential Introduction to the New World of VR and AR storytelling". She will bring the group through some of the most exciting, inspiring and impactful VR experiences from the around the world from sectors including healthcare, social change, education and tourism. For the demo part of the session she will share projects she has worked on including short VR films about the Botanic Gardens and Glasnevin Cemetry as well as short meditations from the Druids Way meditation app shot at the Hill of Tara.

Camille is a Virtual Reality consultant and content producer with 15 year parallel careers in both technology and the arts (theatre, film, radio). Since discovering Virtual Reality in Jan 2015, and realising the potential for this immersive medium, she has been researching and developing concepts for how Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality, can impact our experiences at work and at play.

Camille is General Manager and Producer at Virtual Reality Ireland as well as co-creator of a VR Training tool which enables Scaling of Expertise consistently across an organisation. Current projects at Virtual Reality Ireland include a Heritage AR app and a VR Meditation app.

Camille runs VR Community Ireland where artists, technologists, psychologists, academics and VR enthusiasts meet up to explore the new storytelling possibilities presented by VR and AR.

Martina Coyne


JCI Ireland National Convention

  • Introduction to Mindfulness

Martina has been working with mindfulness-based therapy since she began to study in-depth meditation and body-centred therapies in New Mexico in 1994. She is a qualified mindfulness teacher and ‘mindfulness in schools’ facilitator.

She is a member of the Mindfulness Association in Scotland and in her MSc. Studies with the University of Aberdeen she is developing a modified mindfulness-based intervention for people with anxiety called ‘Engaging the Wise Body’. She currently works with students at NUI Galway, teaching mindfulness as well as presenting a mindfulness beginners course in NUI as part of the Mindful Way initiative to develop a mindful university. She also works with children, parents and staff at St Mark’s community school in Tallaght.

Throughout her career she has been working in the area of health and well-being in many different settings ranging from homelessness and addiction to cancer care and student services as well as in private practice where preventative therapy, health promotion, education and self-care have been a common thread. She is a qualified nurse, midwife, therapist and teacher in alternative therapies and in the past has worked as a Montessori teacher.

She continues to explore different ways of teaching mindfulness in a variety of settings. Her approach is very practical with an emphasis on compassion- based practice and bringing mindfulness into our everyday lives.

This 2 hour Masterclass will share a variety of ideas and techniques that can used in speeches to captivate your audience. Among the ideas shared will be the what, why and how of storytelling and a number of techniques to add humour to your speech even if you don't think you are funny.

Eric Fitzpatrick is the owner of ARK Speaking and Training. He is a Sales Presentations Expert, Corporate Storytelling expert and Executive Speaker Coach who works with entrepreneurs, Sme’s and large organisations to help them communicate their message in a manner that is clear, compelling and concise.

His clients have included Enterprise Ireland, Johnson and Johnson France and USA, Three, Kellogg’s, VHI Homecare, the HSE, Irish Life, UCC, The Tyndall Research Institute, New Ireland Assurance, Snap Printing, Galway University Hospital, Owens and Minor, Analog Devices, Sport Ireland, Nutritional Therapists of Ireland. UCD Registry.

He is the creator of "T.R.U.E. Presentations”, a tool that helped one organisation win a contract worth €1,000,000 and the author of “Persuade on Purpose, How to create presentations that influence and engage”

Emmet O'Brien

Originally an academic with a PhD from the History of Art Dept. in University College Dublin. Then followed over 15 years working in senior management roles in Marketing and Sales with Guinness and Diageo. At one point Emmet led Diageo’s Spirits portfolio in Ireland and became a Master of Whiskey. Emmet has a passion for training and he set up his own training consultancy in 2009 having attended courses with some of Europe and the US’s most well known coaching and training personalities. Emmet spent five years training companies across Europe and Africa in management sales and marketing skills, performance coaching, presentation skills and many soft skills areas. In 2015 Emmet was head-hunted to lead the marketing and training functions and to sit on the Exec of Counterpoint-Britvic.

The main event of the JCI Ireland National Convention 2018 kicks off with the Presidents Reception at the Meyrick Hotel and followed into the main room for the Gala Dinner. Awards on the night in various categories across all JCI Ireland Branches and Entertainment.

Joining the Delegates will be various VIP Guests such as the Galway Mayor & many others. The Galway Young Entrepreneur Overall Winner 2018 will also be announced and many other surprises during the night. The party continues on into late of the night with music, dancing and singing!
